ALP AND COALITION ELECTION COMMITMENTS RELATING TO CLUBS
In the first week of the election campaign, ClubsAustralia wrote to Prime Minister Julia Gillard, and Leader of the Opposition Tony Abbott, seeking their position in relation to the key federal club issues of taxation and problem gambling.

ATO's Guide for Taxable Non-Profit Organisation
The ATO has released a Guide for Taxable Non-Profit Organisation to assist clubs which are taxable under the “Principle of Mutuality”. ClubsVIC has been represented on the ATO working party and also the Clubs Consultative Council and has provide input in the development of this guide. Please note that the description of “Member” has been changed and may now include “non- voting” members under certain circumstances. We recommend that those taxable clubs should review the guide with their taxation advisory/accountant

Increase in VCGR Fees & Penalties
The VCGR recently advised that following indexation the value of one fee unit will rise from $11.69 to $11.95 while the value of one penalty unit will rise from $116.82 to $119.45.As a result, there will be fee increases for all applications made to the VCGR including the fee for the transfer of gaming entitlements. A schedule is attached which details the new fees effective from 1 July 2010.

The 7:30 Report described the piece as :The Rudd Government is soon to release a report into poker machines and the gambling industry, already the fur is flying amid fears the sector may well be hit with some of the greatest gambling restrictions to be applied to the industry in the modern era.

Chef's Table 2010
The Chef's Table competition is now open and clubs are invited to enter a team of two chefs. Teams are required to submit a three course meal to meet a set criteria, the main one being that the ingredients cost no more than $18.00 per person. ClubsVIC are delighted to once again have William Angliss Institute as the major sponsor.

Clubmusic Order Form
ClubsVIC can now announce further details of the PPCA-free music solution being developed with Clubs Australia and Venue Music Solutions. The product is called Clubmusic and will be available from 1 December 2009. Clubmusic is certified to be PPCA free.

Clubs Australia is participating in the 2010 Service Skills Australia Environmental Scan this Friday 4 December.The Environmental Scan was developed to provide an industry specific overview about current and future trends and developments in the tourism, hospitality and events industries in relation to workforce development and vocational education and training. It provides to Federal Government information regarding current and future skill demands.

NON-PPCA MUSIC SOLUTION FOR CLUBS - SURVEY
ClubsVIC is exploring background music options that do not involve payment to PPCA of the PPCA licence fee. The national clubs organisation, ClubsAustralia, is partnering with Venue Music Solutions to deliver NON-PPCA music to clubs. As part of our planned program to deliver affordable NON-PPCA music to clubs, a survey has been designed to gather information on the role of background music in clubs and the type of music clubs would like to play.
